Live television coverage of the Westminster Dog Show from Madison Square Garden has appeared on broadcast and cable networks across the decades . The 145th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show will be shown on FS1 the evening of June 12 and on the FOX broadcast network June 13 from the Lyndhurst Estate in Tarrytown , New York , as part of the move to an outdoor location for 2021 .
A century ago , motion picture cameras filmed Westminster ’ s allure for the first time in 1921 . Newsreel footage shown in movie theatres nationwide quickly followed in the 1930s . In 1948 , television cameras came to the dog show . Legendary dog fancier Mrs . Sherman Hoyt was the first on-air television commentator . By 1950 , WOR-TV televised the show live for two evenings , starting a trend that continues to this day .
In 2020 , FOX Sports programming for Westminster Week had a total of 16 hours of first-run television programming created for dog lovers . Telecasts included two hours of the Masters Agility Championship finals on FS1 , six hours of live daytime dog show breed judging on FS2 , and eight hours of live programming from Madison Square Garden including a pre-show followed by Group and Best in Show competitions on FS1 . Post show , an additional hour of Highlights from the 144th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show presented by Purina Pro Plan ® was shown on FOX Sports channels .
Throughout Westminster Week 2020 , the club ’ s social media agency GLOW worked hand-in-hand with the Fox Sports team to bring real-time social content into the evening broadcasts . The broadcast integrations featured real-time social trends as well as promoting the # BestAtHomeContest .
