The scenic byway continues through the Fish River Lakes region with panoramic vistas of Maine ’ s premier lakes , enjoyed for �shing , sailing , wildlife and bird watching . Drivers look on to Portage Lake , Eagle Lake , and Soldier Pond , as well as the mountainous terrain located east and west of US Route 11 . The area is a destination for historic sporting camps , seasonal cottages , and exceptional boating opportunities .
Aptly named , the Million Dollar View Scenic Byway is an 8-mile stretch of US Route 1 which offers travelers unsurpassed views of the Chiputneticook Lake chain . From the two scenic turnouts , visitors view Mount Katahdin , Peekaboo Mountain , and beautiful views into New Brunswick , Canada .
