SPIE Graduate Student Endowed Scholarship in Optical Sciences
SPIE , the international society for optics and photonics , was founded in 1955 to advance light-based technologies . Serving more than 256,000 constituents from approximately 155 countries , the not-for-profit society advances emerging technologies through interdisciplinary information exchange , continuing education , publications , patent precedent , and career and professional growth . Annually , SPIE provides multiple millions of dollars in support of education and outreach programs .
In recognition of the University of Arizona Wyant College of Optical Sciences 50thyear anniversary , the society established this scholarship to further advance the vision for power and potential in optics and photonics by educating brilliant young minds .
On behalf of all SPIE members worldwide , this scholarship represents the significant appreciation that the society holds for the college and its students and our profound desire to further strengthen this partnership for infinite years to come .
YIYANG HUANG
During her undergraduate studies in Electronic Science and Technology , Yiyang followed the research trends for optical engineering . In her master ’ s studies , she did some related work in the measurement of specular surface based on Phase Measuring Deflectometry . She plans to continue the research in optical metrology as a Ph . D . student .
