Black Lives Matter
Seems like a simple and important saying with no hate intended
But to others the saying “Black Lives Matter” can cause one to be offended
What is so offensive about the reality that black bodies are being put on display?
So Black Lives Matter Too should be enough?
I mean they do right? All Lives Matter should include Black Lives right?
All Lives Matter recognizes black babies slowly starting to know their oppressors more than the fathers right?
All Lives Matter knows the pain black mothers drown in as their children drown in the hate of their society right?
All Lives Matter supports the Black Excellence that runs through the roots of their veins right?
Truth be told All Lives Matter is a direct criticism to Black Lives Matter’s pain alright !
Black Lives Matter Too because the four shots in my brother’s back leak with the blood of his ancestors who are still shackled to the the lies of this “great nation”
Black Lives Matter Too because as I hold my head high I’m torn down simply by the shade of my pigment
I scream “Black Lives Matter Too” like a broken record while it cannot be silenced by the knee of this country on my neck
Black Lives Matter Too because while other kids are running and playing I’m running from the way society sees me as they play with my life like a game of cat and mouse
Black Lives Matter Too for the sake of my future children who will be born with a target on their back
My black life does matter as I skip down the street with pigtails and a pink dress humming the tone that will be played at my funeral
Stoped and questioned because I fit the description by a cop with ill intent. Brown eyes, black hair, around the age of ten last seen trying to live
My little life flashing in front of my eyes at the age five blinded by the appearance of my new reality
The moment I went from being cute to dangerous through the eyes of society is the life every black boy and girl will soon see as their reality
Police brutality is not getting better just filmed and we’re the main characters in the movie
Blood splattered on the concrete as I breathe my last breath
Same story, just a different black body to match the eulogy
Many say black people are an endangered species, but even those are supposed to be protected right?
As a wise man once said Black people are slowly going extinct
The classic “I’m not racist” but clutch your purse when a black man walks by
The classic “I’m not racist I have a black friend” but continue to look away rather than speak up when not even their voice can pierce the ears of everyone around them
