Fences
When building or updating a fence , there are several fencing guidelines you should keep in mind . Fencing in Lake Linganore affects the look of your property , your neighbors , the street , and sometimes the whole village ( depending on the village in which you reside ). Following the tips below can prevent encountering any fencing problems . If you have any questions , please do not hesitate to contact your Village Manager .
1 . Know the ECC Guidelines and Application Process . There are many different types of fences that are approved within the community . The ECC Guidelines outline the design standards set forth for the community . This file can be reviewed under the Governing Documents ” folder in the “ Documents ”* section of your membership account . Additionally , the ECC Application lists the requirements needed for the fence approval through the ECC . The application is available under the “ ECC Applications ”**. You can log in to your membership account at lakelinganore . org / myaccount .
2 . Talk to Your Village Manager . Village Managers are here to help ! After reviewing the ECC Guidelines and ECC Application , the best way to learn more , especially if you have questions , is to speak with your Village Manager ( VM ). Speaking to your Village Manager regarding your fence will allow you to resolve any issues before submitting your application . Part of the VMs role is to maintain neighborhood standards to preserve the community ’ s appearance and property values . They know the ins and outs of the process and possess a wealth of knowledge you can explore .
3 . Submit Your Application . Once you submit your application , it will be reviewed by your Village Manager and potentially the Environmental Control Committee ( ECC ). It is important not to begin construction until your application is approved . If you neglect to do so , you risk having to spend unnecessary extra money to change the fence or potentially tear it down after it is built .
4 . Maintain Your Fence . After approval and construction , it is important to maintain your fence . This includes , but is not limited to , making sure the pet proofing material and / or wire installed on the fence is secured and on the fence ’ s interior , maintaining posts and railings , ensuring any failed gate doors are replaced , etc . Maintaining your fence will help eliminate a potential compliance violation .

** You will be able to submit your Fence Application through your Member Account when the software updates within the “ Applications or Requests ” menu item . Review pages 9-25 for more Member Account details ( Page 24 regarding the " Applications or Requests " feature ). Please contact your VM with any questions .
