The Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail runs the entire length of the Texas Gulf Coast and is home to more than 450 species of birds . Birding enthusiasts search for birds throughout the parks , nature preserves and bird sanctuaries along the trail . It shouldn ’ t be too hard to spot them as Texas is home to more bird species than any other state in the United States . League City sits on the Upper Texas Coast portion of this trail and is home to hundreds of bird species , making it the perfect place to get started in birding .
