OUTDOOR RECREATION
League City has 11.5 miles of hike and bike trails , a paddle trail that runs 6.5 miles down Clear Creek , the third largest boating anchorage in the United States and three golf courses . There also are ample opportunities for fishing in the local creeks , lakes , ponds and bayous as well as nearby saltwater fishing in Galveston Bay and the Gulf of Mexico .
A WILDERNESS IN THE CITY Not far from League City is the largest urban wilderness preserve in the United States : Armand Bayou Nature Center . Visitors can explore the 2,500-acre preserve through guided kayak tours , pontoon cruises , night hikes , and by walking the numerous nature trails . Wildlife is prevalent throughout the preserve and includes alligators , deer , birds , bats , armadillos and even two bison .
