Charbonneau Tennis Club
By KATHI GRAY
The tennis club focuses on fun , friends and competition
Now that things are looking up amid the CO- VID-19 pandemic , Charbonneau Tennis Club is going into high
GRAY gear with new activities and team play . USTA is full steam ahead ! If you would like to see some great tennis , stop by on game day ! The club allows 10 people upstairs in the
“ Go out and have fun , and make new friends !” viewing area with masks and social distancing . Home games still to be played for the season are May 2 and May 16 at noon . More leagues will start on the weekend of May 7-9 . I will post the home game schedule in next month ’ s article .
We are sad to see Jerry Baker leave the board after faithfully serving five years . Thank you , Jerry , for all of your dedicated hard work for all of the members of the Charbonneau Tennis Club . We will see you on the courts ! This brings up the subject of searching for a board member that would like to assist us with minor repairs and maintenance scheduling . Even if repairs are not your forte , the board could use other assistance .
Please think about joining us . This position can only be held by a Charbonneau resident , making our pool of applicants limited . You may reach me at 503-899-3839 for more information .
As recycling has become a larger and larger concern for everyone , Charbonneau Tennis Club has entered into an agreement with Wilson to recycle the used tennis balls . They will send containers for the balls , which will then be sent back in prepaid containers . It is amazing how many we collect !
With the warmer weather we are seeing many more pickleball players ! Check the tennis bookings schedule for Open Play days and times . Go out and have fun , and make new friends !

We do hope we will be able to return to our luncheon format at the clubhouse in September .
Although we are still not able to meet for our wonderful fashion show luncheon in May , we do hope you will enjoy our video produced fashion show with attire from the Lake Oswego , Chico ’ s . For most of us , shopping has not been on our radar . We hope that this will inspire you to go find something fun ! Please join Julie Reece of Chico ’ s and our models on Monday , May 10 . I remember my mother fondly for the strong woman she was , always giving everyone encouragement and the benefit of the doubt . She raised six of us basically by herself . As a nurse , she cared for and nurtured many . For some of us our mothers are with us only in memory . For those who still have yours , you are fortunate . Call or spend time with them as much as you can . You will never regret it . Happy Mother ’ s Day !
