Summer Camp
Summer camp 2021 was full of excitement as we were able to return to camp . Although we were still unable to offer overnight camp due to the ongoing restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic , we were able to safely serve 448 ( with a total of 613 registrations from campers attending multiple weeks ) individual campers during our day camp programs at Camp Hoffman / Green Forest and Camp Rocky Farm .
During our day camp programs , campers unleashed their inner explorers and enjoyed camp in new and exciting ways . Campers had the opportunity to participate in all the favorite camp activities like boating and swimming , archery , the high ropes course , learning outdoor skills , building fires , making tie dye , cooking over an open fire , and enjoying s ’ mores , all while making new friends and lifelong memories . Campers also had the opportunity to join in on the optional Thursday Night Late Night or Overnight program where they were able to get a taste of what it ’ s like to sleep over at camp . During their extended stay at camp they participated in night hikes , Girl Scout traditions , making and performing skits , and a lot of singing .
During this camp season , we were once again successful in attaining our American Camp Association ( ACA ) accreditation , which means that our camps comply with more than 300 industry-established standards in health , safety , and programming .
Feedback from this camp season was very positive and has helped to form the summer 2022 camp season . Overall , campers and caregivers enjoyed our program offerings , appreciated our ability to pivot during an ongoing pandemic , welcomed improved council / camp communications with caregivers , and loved this year ’ s summer camp staff . They are all also anxiously waiting to have overnight camp back up and running . In addition , they wanted more program offerings for older campers and improved facilities . With this in mind , we will be offering new and exciting older camper programming and will be offering badge earning opportunities for all our camp programming in summer 2022 .
