FORDHAM PREP 2021 ANNUAL GIVING REPORT
FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Many identify the experience of community as a differentiating factor that makes Fordham Prep so attractive to potential students and parents who seek an environment where young men , regardless of their background , will find a true sense of belonging and purpose .
But this community of support and care is much deeper and wider than those who wake up each day and travel to the historic Rose Hill campus to teach and work here at the Prep .
You are part of our community as well . For your support provides the resources that enable us to serve our students and sustain the value of community in all we do .
This year , your support was more critical than ever . Many of our students ’ families faced great needs . Pandemic-related job loss and financial hardship doubled applications for tuition assistance . Students not only felt the tragic loss of loved ones — of grandparents and even parents — but also the loss of activities , events , and experiences that are so important in creating social bonds and growth .
In the midst of these challenges , our allocation of additional financial aid meant that not one student was forced to withdraw due to economic distress . The mere act of attending school in-person gave each individual young man an experience of dignity and social well-being . Your support allowed us to
purchase gift cards for families who struggled to put food on the table . It enabled us to upgrade technology for remote learning when necessary and it helped us keep our community safe and healthy . It also ensured that we could keep our community of faculty and staff intact by avoiding layoffs and unpaid furloughs .
The Fordham Prep community emerges from the fog of the pandemic in a position of strength . Our enrollment and mission are thriving and new academic initiatives and facilities enhancements abound — from our iSTEAM and Global Scholars programs to our FitzSimons Civics Education Initiative and our new and improved East Wing .
Thank you for honoring Fordham Prep with your generosity . I will remember you and your family in my prayers , especially as our students , faculty , and staff gather together as a community in the great prayer of the Eucharist , around the table of the Lord .
