( recommended for parent of a HS student in grades 9-11 ) This past year has resulted in some of the most significant changes to the college planning process in decades .
• Schools have gone ACT / SAT optional , but not necessarily when they award scholarships .
• Recent legislation included substantial changes to the FAFSA and college financial aid
• Behind-the-scenes rules have changed on how colleges can recruit students and award scholarships . Join us to learn how these changes may impact your family , and new strategies to consider to give your student the best opportunity to be admitted and maximize scholarships and financial aid . Adult-Child “ Paint Date ”
( adult with student age 10 and up )
Enjoy a fun “ paint date ” for you and your partner age 10 +. Experience a fun and relaxing environment with the challenge of a class guided by a professional artist . Each individual will work on a different side of a canvas at the same time with a partner . When the two sides join at the end of class , you will have one complete artwork . Drone School - Beginner , The Basics
Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles ( UAV ), Unmanned Aerial Systems ( UAS ) “ drones ” are growing in popularity and capabilities . Drones are used by recreational hobbyist , commercial , non-profit , government , and public safety agencies . If you or somebody you know has a drone , wants one or needs to learn more about drones , this course is for you . Recreational drone hobbyists will gain information on basic operations and a foundation for expanding to commercial operations . You will learn basic safety techniques , the rules of the road and air , how to register and certify , which types of drones are which , and when , how , and where to fly ( or avoid ). Also covered in this course are basic tools , simulators , apps , cameras , commercial considerations , new and emerging regulations , insurance , practical tips , techniques , and trends . Weather permitting , an instructor-only demonstration flight may be held . Attendees can bring their drone ( s ) to the class , but they will not be allowed to fly them . Drone School - Beyond The Basics
Small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles ( UAV ), Unmanned Aerial Systems ( UAS ) “ drones ” are growing in popularity and capabilities . This course moves beyond the basics looking at drone decision making , flight planning , how to prepare for your FAA Part 107 among other certifications including new recreational hobbyist TRUST tests . Also covered in this course are basic tools , simulators , apps , cameras , commercial considerations , new and emerging regulations , insurance , practical tips , techniques , trends to be aware of . Weather permitting drone demonstration flights may be held . Wednesday , Oct . 6 , 6-8:30 PM
Drone Aerial Photography and Video
This course is for those who want to learn more about drone based aerial photography and video ( recreational and commercial ). Topics covered include rules of the road for aerial photography and video , license and registration , where to fly ( and not fly ), flight planning and weather , autonomous and manual modes , equipment , hardware , software and other tools . Also covered are drone and camera photo and video modes , settings , time lapse and hyper lapse , panoramic , automatic vs manual settings and more . Additional topics included are what type of drone and camera equipment are best , as well as accessories , along with post processing tools . Weather permitting a demonstration flight will be flown by the instructor . * Note : While attendees can bring their drone ( s ) to the class , they will not be allowed to fly them . ** Prerequisite to take one of the Basics classes before registering .
