Early Childhood Screening
IS YOUR CHILD 3 ? Have they had Early Childhood Screening ?
A child can be screened any time after 3 , but it is recommended screening takes place before their 4th birthday .
Minnesota law requires Early Childhood Screening before a child can enter kindergarten in a public school . This free screening checks hearing and vision , weight and height , health history , immunizations , speech and language , general development and motor skills . Screening is NOT a readiness test for kindergarten .
Screening is fun for children and provides caregivers information about child development . If health or developmental concerns are identified , resources are available on site .

Mahtomedi Area Preschool
Preschool is an exciting time for young learners . Mahtomedi Area Preschool ( MAP ) helps prepare students for the world of kindergarten . MAP takes 3-5-year-olds through daily activities to strengthen social-emotional , physical , and cognitive development . The curriculum features exploration and discovery as a way of learning . Math , language , and literacy skills are sharpened in MAP , as is self-regulation . Along the way children further develop confidence , creativity , and lifelong critical thinking abilities .
