Business Retention and Expansion The last leg of the stool is the most important , business retention and expansion . Upwards of 90 % of new job growth in a community will come from its existing companies , and likely another community ’ s recruitment project is an existing facility leaving their current community .
Making sure our local employers are taken care of and given the resources needed to grow is vital to the community ’ s ability to wgrow its employee base . This is done by forming strong relationships with key decision makers of our local employers and advocating on their behalf when issues arise .

Ensuring we have a pulse of when a company needs help or is looking at expansion are key factors in this role . There are incentives available from the state department of commerce for existing business expansion , so we look to assist local employers in tapping into available resources to help them grow . Hawkins is the Chamber lead for business retention and expansion projects .
