SIENA HEIGHTS UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY
The Department of Public Safety is located in the main lobby of Ledwidge Hall on the Adrian Campus . There is a trained Public Safety Officer available 24 hours a day , 365 days a year . The Director of Public Safety ’ s office is located in Ledwidge Hall . The Public Safety / Welcome Center is staffed with dispatch / phone operators and trained Public Safety Officers .
Officers are trained in many aspects of crime prevention and community service . Officers are certified in Standard First Aid , AED and CPR . Siena Heights University Public Safety Officers do not have arrest authority ; they cooperate and work closely with the law enforcement agencies that have jurisdiction for each campus . For the Adrian campus , the following agencies have jurisdiction : Adrian Police Department , Lenawee County Sheriff Department , and the Michigan State Police . For the Southfield Campus the following agencies have jurisdiction : City of Southfield Police Department , Oakland Sheriff Department , and the Michigan State Police . For the Lake Michigan College Center , the following agencies have jurisdiction : City of Benton Harbor Police , Berrien County Sheriff Department , and the Michigan State Police . For the Monroe Campus , the following agencies have jurisdiction : City of Monroe Police Department , Monroe County Sheriff Department and the Michigan State Police . For the Jackson Campus , the following agencies have jurisdiction : City of Jackson Police Department , the Jackson County Sheriff Department , and the Michigan State Police . For the Kellogg Campus , the following agencies have jurisdiction : the City of Battle Creek Police Department , the Calhoun County Sheriff Department . For the Dearborn Center , the following agencies have jurisdiction : City of Dearborn Police Department , Wayne County Sheriff Department , and the Michigan State Police . For the Kalamazoo campus , the following agencies have jurisdiction : City of Kalamazoo Police Department , Kalamazoo County Sheriff Department , and the Michigan State Police . None of the Siena Heights University campuses have sworn police departments with arrest authority . All of the Siena Heights University campuses ( including host campuses ) public safety and / or security jurisdiction is confined to the campus Clery geography .
The Siena Heights University Public Safety Department is committed to providing you with respectful and professional service . While we can promise you a committed effort to ensure your safety , we are of course unable to promise total isolation from crime . Therefore , it is important that each of you takes responsibility for your own safety . The key to preventing crime is awareness which is best achieved through education . Please take time to read through this handbook and familiarize yourself with the programs and activities we offer . Educate yourself about what you can do personally to make your campus a safer place .
