Bystander Intervention
Bystander intervention is the act of feeling empowered and equipped with the knowledge and skills to effectively assist in the prevention of sexual violence and other crimes . A bystander is anyone who observes an emergency or a situation that looks like someone could use some help . Bystander Intervention programs teach people how to safely overcome their natural resistance to intervene and how to “ step up ”. Siena Heights University offers a variety of bystander intervention programs throughout the academic year including Welcome Week .
