Campus Security Authority ( CSA )
“ Campus Security Authority ” is a Clery Act specific term that encompasses four groups of individuals and organizations associated with an institution . At Siena Heights University CSA ’ s are identified by the Department of Public Safety and given annual notification and responsibilities .
The function of a CSA is to report to the Department of Public Safety crime report information for allegations of Clery Act crimes that they receive . CSAs are responsible for reporting allegations of Clery Act crimes that are reported to them in their capacity as a CSA . This means that CSAs are not responsible for reporting incidents that they overhear talking about in a third party conversation ; or any other indirect manner . CSAs are not expected to investigation any Clery Act crime .
Clery definition
Campus police department or a campus security department of an institution
Any individual or individuals who have responsibility for campus security but who do not constitute a campus police department or a campus security department
Any official of an institution who has significant responsibly for student and campus activities , including , but not limited to , student housing , student discipline and campus judicial proceedings

Athletic staff , Athletic trainers , Athletic Director , Athletic coaches , Student Organization Advisors and Officers , Director of Health Center , Title IX Coordinator and Advisory Board , Student Development Staff , Faculty Advisors , Resident Advisors , Campus Living Assistants , Conduct Officers , CARE team Members , Retention Officers , SSS Staff and Mentors ( this list is not intended to be all inclusive and might change as job descriptions and personnel change )
There is a distinction between CSA and Title IX responsible employees . All Siena Heights University employees are mandatory ( responsible ) reporters under the Title IX provisions . CSA are select employees as determined by the Department of Public Safety . The University Counseling center is a confidential reporter under Title IX and a CSA under the Clery Act , counselors working within the scope of the University Counseling center are only required to report statistics for Clery Act crimes . *
