Nature reflects our nature
“ Reminiscing KU and Moving Forward ”
I entered Kathmandu University ( KU ) in 2008 as a Bachelors 4th year student . My former college had 3 years Bachelors course in Environmental science . I ended up with M . Sc . in Environmental Science in 2011 . I spent three years in KU and these three years is the most beautiful period of my life . During KU days , I was full of zeal and enthusiasm to learn the subject matter but I was completely unaware that life would teach me more than I ever expected . KU unfolded the deep theories , principles and scope of environmental science . Environmental science has always been my subject of interest but along with that , it taught me to struggle far away from home town , friendship with dynamic individuals , bond with my professors , and most of all , it taught me how to carry on my professional life . The memories attached to KU are valuable because I lived every moment of it . When I look back to those days , I feel like I have lived the most fun part of my life in KU . KU and its memories will always be special to my heart .
I was always passionate about wildlife conservation . So , I chose to study tiger ’ s diet during my M . Sc . dissertation . After M . Sc ., I worked in WWF as an intern . As an intern , I worked with 24 community forest user groups focusing on different forest management techniques adapted by the Community Forests . In 2013 , I started working as an Environment Officer in District Development Committee , Dhankuta . In 2015 , I worked as an environmental safeguard officer consultant in World Bank project called Strengthening National Rural Transportation Program ( SNRTP ). In 2016 , my dream came true as I joined National Trust for Nature Conservation as a conservation officer . Here , I am involved in wildlife research and management activities like estimating the population of species like tiger , rhino , gharials ; rescue and rehabilitation , translocation , radio-collaring of mammals , prey density estimates , promoting community awareness , long term monitoring of the species , management of the grassland . Regardless of where I work and what role I play , the foundation behind my knowledge , hard work , and moral virtue is KU . I am a proud product of KU .
