September 2020 THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER 5 CCC Activities By KIM HOSFORD There’s a farmers market coming to Charbonneau If you love to go to local farmers markets as much as I do, you will be thrilled to learn we will be having a market right here in Charbonneau! Come and visit our new pavilion space while enjoying some shopping. We are currently in the planning stages but this is what we have so far: Market days will be happening four Fridays in a row on Sept. 25, Oct. 2, 9 and 16. The market will be open from 3:30-7:30 p.m. and there will be between 20 and 30 vendors. Please be sure to wear a mask so everyone can stay safe and healthy. Red Cross Blood Drive As you may know, the need for blood Sunshine Service By JOAN VEDDER Volunteers work together to provide services during pandemic I’m still waiting for the pools to open here, in Charbonneau. I guess not... It’s not like I had nothing to do so the summer passed VEDDER quickly. Sunshine Service didn’t get too many calls so that is the good news recently; it seems like most of you remained healthy enough. Our theme this month is “teamwork” and that hits the nail on the head for our group of volunteers! There is a solid list of names in your CCC Directory that will is constant and patients need your help. Please consider making an appointment to donate blood. By donating blood you are actively making a difference in your community, allowing patients to receive cancer treatment, surgery and the gift of life in the case of an accident or a medical emergency. Your blood donation provides units of blood products that are promised to hospitals. Blood donors report feeling a sense of great satisfaction after making their blood donation. Why? Because helping others in need just feels good. ■ Drive date: Monday, Sept. 21 ■ Blood Drive Hours: 1-6 p.m. ■ Location: Charbonneau Clubhouse Fireplace Room Red Cross will be doing the COVID-19 antibody testing until October and as a thank you for making donation a priority, they are also offering this donor incentive: Free Sports Clips Haircut “Saving Lives Never Looked So Good.” To schedule your appointment or for more information, please call 1-800-RED- CROSS or visit www.redcrossblood.org; Sponsor Code: Charbonneau. assure you of equipment should you need to borrow something. I know I’ve mentioned before, the type of things we have, but here we go once more: wheelchairs, two types of walkers, canes, toilet risers, shower benches, bed rails, knee scooters (following foot surgery) and a zillion other little oddities! Assuming scheduled surgeries will resume soon again, it’s best that you call us before the big day so that we can have all that you might need, in place afterwards. Your doctor will usually suggest what type of equipment you might need. For those of you who needed items months and months ago, and would now like to return them, we are doing so once again. Just call somebody on the list I spoke of (above), and we’ll assure you get signed off our records and we can sanitize things for the next client! A small donation is always welcome as a way of “thanks” for the things you’ve been able to borrow rather than buy. Until next month, stay healthy because happy goes along with it!
