Nominating
Committee prepares
for new offi cers
It’s hard to believe it is already
September, and our CWGA season
has only two months left. But the
play has been good, the competition
keen and we’ve managed to have a
lot of fun while we’re at it. Even
with COVID-19 always top-of-mind,
our player numbers have been higher
than normal and our Thursday
time slots have been full. Still,
we’ve missed the interactions that
our monthly scrambles and luncheons
allowed in the past, making
it more difficult to get to know the
newer members. The Day’s Play
Committee has enjoyed setting up

games that mix up the field, helping
a little bit with the tendency to always
play with the same people.
We’ll continue to make every effort
to create opportunities to get acquainted
with our members, both
old and new, until the world returns
to its axis and we can scramble,
lunch and mix as in the past. Meanwhile,
we can still celebrate the best
part of golf — the camaraderie, the
joy of being outside on a beautiful
golf course and the satisfaction of
an occasional good shot that keeps
us coming back.
Karen Miller scores an ace at Mt.
Hood Oregon Resort
Congrats to Karen Miller, who had a
hole-in-one Tuesday, Aug. 21 at Mt.
Hood Oregon Resort in Welches, on the
Pinecone Course, hole No. 4. Unfortunately
for Karen, she had not paid into
the away hole-in-one fund, so no payouts.
Her ace was witnessed by playing
partners Tom & Susie Taylor, with the
McLain’s and Robertson’s looking on
from the green behind them.
Nominating Committee preparing for
a new slate of officers
At the time of this writing, the Nominating
Committee is preparing to
launch its effort to create a slate of candidates
for the 2021 executive board.
The committee is chaired by past president
Cathi McLain, and includes Janet
Ferguson, Coleen Larson, Linda Owen
and Jan Watson. The slate will be announced
at the Sept. 2 board meeting,
with voting to take place in October at
the annual meeting. Traditionally, the
annual meeting is held during Stagette,
our end-of-year celebration. Those
plans are still in flux, but members will
be notified via email.
