Dear Readers :
It is with great pride that we provide you with our fiscal year 2020 outcomes for Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Hospital – Dallas and Fort Worth . Annually , since the 2002 opening of our Dallas hospital , the first dedicated heart and vascular hospital in North Texas , we publish our fiscal yearend results , quality indicators and volumes . We look forward to sharing our accomplishments with physicians , clinicians , administrators , and all who are interested in our programs and services on both the Dallas and Fort Worth campuses on the following pages .
As a part of Baylor Scott & White Health , the largest not-for-profit healthcare organization in Texas , our mission is founded in the Christian ministry of healing to promote the well-being of all individuals , families and communities . We work in tandem with members of our medical staff and all clinicians to deliver high-value quality care and maintain excellence in patient experience . And , while the year has provided challenges as a result of the pandemic ’ s arrival , our team demonstrated incredible resilience with determination for remaining steadfast in providing Safe Care while striving to achieve all of our goals .
Focused on our Baylor Scott & White core values to serve faithfully , act honestly and never settle , the team ’ s nimble adaptability to an ever-changing environment led to a successful year . Our team persevered without skipping a beat , keeping eyes on maintaining a “ Zero Defects ” environment . This spirited focus has , once again , led to national recognition in several areas , including :
• 5-Star Rating from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for Patient Safety
• Grade A from The Leapfrog Group in Spring 2020 for the 9th consecutive reporting period
• U . S . News & World Report recognition as High Performing in Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm and High Performing in TAVR – for the first year of recognition for this procedure
In collaboration with Baylor University Medical Center , a part of Baylor Scott & White Health , and with Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center – Fort Worth , we celebrate national recognition with our colleagues including :
• U . S . News & World Report ’ s recognition of Baylor University Medical Center as High Performing in Aortic Valve Surgery , Heart Failure and Heart Bypass Surgery
• Baylor University Medical Center also received the ranking of # 2 in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area and # 4 in Texas
• U . S . News & World Report ’ s recognition of Baylor Scott & White – Fort Worth as High Performing in Heart Failure and the ranking of # 8 in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area
We are proud of the extensive research conducted during fiscal year 2020 together with Baylor Scott & White Heart and Vascular Institute and Soltero Cardiovascular Research Center . From the clinical trials conducted on our campus locations through the brilliance of those involved in exploring solutions to curbing the spread of COVID-19 or mitigating its long-term effects , to the research conducted for advanced treatment options and new medical devices to the marketplace , our research-minded clinicians have been instrumental in efforts to make care Better for all cardiovascular patients . Together with our board of managers , medical leadership and all of our dedicated staff , we continue to strive to exceed all expectations , remain spirited in our innovative approaches to care delivery and remain flexible as our world looks to adapt to a postpandemic era in the future .
