Carmat Total Artificial Heart – Evaluate the safety and performance of the Carmat Total Artificial Heart in subjects with advanced heart failure requiring biventricular support . PARAGLIDE-HF – A multicenter , randomized , double-blind , double-dummy , parallel group , active controlled 8-week study to evaluate the effect of sacubitril / valsartan ( LCZ696 ) versus valsartan on changes in NT-proBNP and safety and tolerability of in-hospital initiation of LCZ696 compared to valsartan in HFpEF patients with acute decompensated heart failure ( ADHF ) who have been stabilized during hospitalization . Advanced heart failure cardiologists and transplant surgeons on the medical staff at Baylor University Medical Center provide an array of services , including the medical management of progressive symptoms , medication optimization , mechanical circulatory support device evaluation and placement , access to clinical trials , and heart transplantation .
Members of the hospital transplantation team evaluate patients by traveling to outreach clinics in Longview , Abilene , Amarillo , Midland- Odessa , and Lubbock .
