In this session, we will rethink the
special energy and opportunities
unique to the first six weeks of school,
the goal of which is to lay the
foundation and build the relationships
that will support children’s
development and learning
all year long. Discover the path to
success in establishing the
fundamental aspects of a caring
classroom community, from creating a
child-centered physical environment, to
setting a schedule that invites learning,
to partnering with families in ways that

the 2020 Ohio Early Childhood Race
and Rural Equity follow-up report,
"Drafting a New Blueprint for Success."
This will include county-specific data
on young children, new statewide data
disaggregated by race and geography,
and more. Participants will have the
opportunity to share personal and
community experiences reflected in the
data and brainstorm program-level,
community, and statewide solutions to
address inequities for young children.

We will explore developmentally
appropriate areas of math that can be
used throughout the curriculum and
the learning environment. Among other
areas, we will look at matching,
classifying, patterning, sequencing,
and measuring and how they can be
used to engage children with authentic
math experiences.
Participants in this session will explore
the definitions and concepts of gender,
gender identification and gender
development, while examining the
child’s perspective in the development
of gender identity. The concept of
gender identity and expression from
the perspective of parents, who may
be having difficulty with their child’s
gender choices will also be
addressed. Take back strategies to
support children in the classroom in
the area of gender identity and

Freedom Technique (Tapping) which
will uncover unconscious stressors
that create our personal biases and
societal stereotypes that may
adversely impact engagement with
staff, children and families. Once
stressors are identified you will
further use Tapping to lower your
stress and rewire your brain and body
to not be triggered again by these
issues.
