House Bill 2740 , sponsored by Rep . Shelley Kloba , D-Kirkland , would prohibit an employer from refusing to hire , with some exceptions , due to a positive marijuana test . It would allow for additional testing to rebut the initial results of an employerrequired marijuana test . It also would limit an employer ’ s ability to maintain a zero-drug policy when individuals use medical marijuana . This bill is similar to bills introduced in the last few years attempting to eliminate the ability of employers to maintain zero-tolerance drug policies . AWB is opposed to this bill .

The bill would have made the recent increase with overtime rules more flexible to allow for agreements between employees and employers if certain conditions are met . This bill was a missed opportunity to address the concern raised by AWB and others regarding the unreasonable increase of the overtime salary threshold that was adopted in December 2019 by the Department of Labor and Industries .
