bobcats , migratory birds , and native plants . Learning with Lee quickly became a weekly online offering with thousands of viewers from all over the world .
We also heard from our supporters that they missed being on Kiawah . They missed the scenery , the wildlife , the peaceful views . Again , our staff stepped up to the challenge and created the Nature Connections video series for weekly social share . These short one minute-ish videos featured a variety of subjects from wildlife to marsh scenery to rainy days and were a welcome start to everyone ’ s week .
Although more difficult virtually , Conservation Matters were still an important part of our programming . We collaborated with the Half-Earth Project , Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network , and Dr . Dave Plourd ( Sharks and Rays ) to provide great virtual learning opportunities .
We can ’ t wrap up our 2020 Highlights without discussing the 2020 Legacy Gala ! Knowing an in-person event would not be possible , our Legacy Gala Committee quickly struck up new plans for an online-only event featuring silent auctions and a fun Zoom Cocktails program hosted by Vickey Wile , Rich Warner , and Peggy Barnes . You , our supporters , stepped up in a big way . Thanks to you the 2020 Legacy Gala was our biggest fundraising event ever ! We were honored and overwhelmed by your generosity .
Thank you again for an amazing 2020 , despite the challenges . We look forward to another successful year of conservation education programs in 2021 . The best is yet to come !
