July 2020 THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER 11
The Niners
By KATHRYN HARTLAUB
Pink Ball Golf Tournament
canceled
Dear
Charbonneau
Residents, Family
and Friends,
It’s hard to believe
that we are
HARTLAUB
already approaching
July! With the
pandemic reminding us to use caution,
along with an unusual golf year, it is
gratifying to see even more members
out there on the links. Friendships and
perseverance rule! Thank you for your
resilience and dedication.
In an important note, Charbonneau
Women’s Niners have made a decision
to cancel our Annual Pink Ball Golf
Tournament, auction and luncheon.
With so many precautions needed for
COVID-19, we felt it best not to have
the tournament that normally has an
attendance of 200 for the golf and luncheon
combined. The Niners also want
to continue with our support to OHSU
and the Knight Cancer Institute for research.
We will be arranging another
tour of the new Knight Institute with
the date to be announced, so please
contact Mary at maryfieweger4@gmail.
com if you would like to attend. Pink
Ball has been a tournament favorite, so
watch for information in the August
Villager for a chance to participate in a
virtual donation.
The Niners, in partnership with the
Men’s Club, contributed $1,085 to the
Wilsonville girls golf team. A big thank
you goes out to the Charbonneau Men’s
Club who joined us in donating and to
Maureen Larson’s leadership in coordination.
Our golf pro, Chris Bensel, is also
the new golf coach for the 12-member
Wilsonville girls golf. Congratulations!
With our support, the girls now
have new team jackets and golf bags;
seniors will pass theirs on.

that it has been a hard year due to CO-
VID-19. These ladies, many who have
played at one time, may have retired or
just want to support the Niners. These
members enjoy helping with scrambles,
decorating for luncheons or pitching in
wherever needed. They are looking forward
to next year so that they can be a
part of the group with a full season. We
appreciate your membership and look
forward to connecting with you. Thank
you to Lindy Anderson, Rosemary
Ricken, Cindy DiCenzo, Mary Tillery,
Paula Kay Johnson, Karen Cary, Cricket
Brazelton, Lindy See, Cherie Sanville,
Gail Scott, Ginger Robbins and
Lyn Theis.
