Anatomy of a Floral Quote Rachel Kwan – www.eucliddesign.co T hink of your floral quote like a bouquet: it’s made up of several important parts, each with its own influence over the final number. We break down these pieces for you so that you can see the parts that go into the magic mix. Go into your floral consultation feeling prepared! 1. Materials You may have noticed that flowers aren’t all priced the same. The humble carnations that you see at the grocery store don’t command the same price as unique blooms like orchids. The more your flowers are out of season, difficult to grow, fragile, or traveling long distances to get to you, the more it can influence your total floral price tag. 2. Volume Volume impacts your floral budget in a straightforward way. If you originally asked for ten pieces in your quote, but your guest list explodes and you end up needing twenty, then your centerpiece budget will need to be twice as big. In this case, more is more! 3. Complexity The easiest way to think about complexity is to think of it as time. A complex floral design requires more planning and design time. Your florist will make it look easy, but there’s a lot of time and effort spent behind the scenes. On your wedding day, it might also mean a bigger onsite team for setup. As the old saying goes, time is money! 4. Cost of Business It might not be the first thought that comes to mind, but your florist needs to run a successful business for the months or even years before your big day. They put part of every dollar of their revenue into marketing, additional training, the design studio, insurance, -- the list goes on! The cost of running a business is also a factor in every floral quote. www.marandaelyssephotography.com www.GeorgianBayWedding.com 17
