Collin and I were very collaborative in our planning approach as
we wanted our wedding to be reflective of us as a couple. It
showcased our passions, personalities and was just so us! We
were able to incorporate sentimental traditions like the crowning
ceremony in our wedding service where we used the same
crowns that my grandparents and parents used at their own
weddings.
The day before the wedding, I was a nervous wreck. There were
so many little details we all needed to remember. The day of
the wedding, I was so happy. Getting ready with my mom and
best friends, we were pampered and giddy with excitement. I
remember waking up the day after the wedding and looking
at Collin saying, Wow, that was the best wedding I have ever
been to!
The biggest stress of our wedding day was finalizing our
thank you speech to our guests. We had just started the day
before and were sending draft versions back and forth up
until a few hours before the ceremony. That being said, it was
one of the best speeches we have ever given. To all future
couples, I would recommend writing this well in advance.
Thinking back to our wedding, it is so hard to pick one favourite
moment as the day was filled with memorable moments. It
is the most incredible feeling to have your family and friends
gathered together to celebrate you in your joy and happiness.
If I had to pick one moment it would be our first dance under
Georgian Bay’s starlit sky. The staff at Lora Bay had ushered our
guests out of the room arranging them in a circle on the 18th
hole with lit sparklers. As a special surprise to Collin, I sang our
wedding song to him as we danced in the middle.•
