Like many areas of the world , the COVID-19 pandemic caused major challenges for families in Paraguay , who are living on the edge of poverty . Working with Fundación Paraguaya , the dōTERRA Cō-Impact Sourcing ® team has been tirelessly creating revitalization projects for indigenous and underprivileged communities , assisting students and their families with both immediate aid and longterm self-reliance projects .
The dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation ® provided the funding needed for four areas of assistance :
1 . Protection . Addressing the immediate need for cleaning supplies like hand soap , detergent , and more .
2 . Alimentation . Offering food kits to families in and around dōTERRA ® production centers , as well as their rural schools . These kits should last about 30 days for an average-size family and include rice , cooking oil , flour , and other staples .
3 . Vegetable garden kit . Providing training and six different types of vegetable seedlings to families . These kits help improve both immediate and long-term nutritional needs , as well as support self-sufficiency and resilience .
4 . Animal husbandry . Sending 30 broiler chickens and a month ’ s supply of feed to Fundación Paraguaya students , who develop a business plan that demonstrates how this donation can be leveraged to create a small business .
The project is still underway , but more than 115 vulnerable students and their families — in over 30 communities — have already been identified to receive all four forms of immediate aid and long-term self-reliance projects . doterrahealinghands . org 75
