Borders

With the outbreak of COVID-19 , tens of thousands of migrants and refugees in Mexico border camps were left in a vulnerable situation . New COVID-19 restrictions inhibited access to needed resources and supplies , and some border camps shut down entirely . In 2020 , many amazing Wellness Advocates delivered emergency kits to various refugee and migrant shelters at the Mexico – United States border .
Seeking Shelter from the Storm
Mission , Texas / Reynosa , Mexico
Often , migrants coming from South and Central America must wait in Mexico shelters until they can enter the United States . When the winds and floods of Hurricane Hanna struck Reynosa , Mexico , earlier this year , Blue Diamond Mayra Powers immediately knew these shelters would need relief and supplies . Mayra gathered her team , requested 72-Hour Emergency Relief Hygiene Kits from the dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation ® , and created a distribution plan . Three Gold leaders living in Mission , Texas , ( Claudia Gomez , Mayela Cadena , and Thelma Ochoa ) carried the kits across the border to shelters .
Gold leader Claudia Gomez reports , “[ The migrant camps ] lack everything from clothes and hygiene products to mattresses .” Gomez , Cadena , and Ochoa distributed 400 hygiene kits , as well as donations of dōTERRA ® products , to the border camps in Matamoro , Mexico .
