Summerfield Village Enjoyed Fall Festivities Amid COVID-19
COVID-19 didn ' t stop the Summerfield Village Committee from hosting two of their annual fall festivities ! The committee hosted their annual Summerfield Fall Home Decorating Contest and Costume Parade , albeit a little differently , in October .
As always , each home that wished to participate in the home decorating contest was required to enter the contest . This year , this step was especially important to follow . The committee judged the homes on October 24 and crowned two firstplace winners : the Hines family home on Illinois Court and the Golden family home on Douglas Avenue . The Golden family ' s entire house was decorated , and enjoyed a family-friendly fall-themed movie ( as shown ). The picture shown only shares a small part of the home and the movie experience . Both the Hines and Golden families heightened their decorations by playing Halloween-themed music during the contest .
The committee hosted its annual Halloween Costume Parade , Contest , and Games on October 24 as well . The community ' s residents practiced social distancing and paraded from Finn Drive to the tot lot on Sawyer Road . Each family was asked to practice social distancing and wear face masks when necessary . Thank you to all who participated and helped celebrate the fall !

The Summerfield Village Committee hosts its annual Summerfield Winter Home Decorating Contest on Friday , December 18 , from 5:30 to 7 pm ( inclement weather date : Sunday , December 20 ). All homes interested in participating must email the Summerfield Village Chair , Samantha Hoague , by December 16 ( summerfield . chair @ gmail . com ). Doing so allows the chair to schedule a judging route for the committee , especially since not every resident with a decorated home wishes to participate . Thank you for your cooperation .
