Trailblazers

Report

December 2020
The morning of October 10th found a limited number of Trailblazers ( due to continuing COVID-19 government mandated group size restrictions ) performing trail maintenance work on the Nightingale Trail . The scope of work included pruning vegetation ( both at the start of the trail before it enters the woods along the Lake and then through the woods ) and picking up trash along the trail and in the woods and shore area . We removed two large bags of trash — more than we ever have seen in the past . Part of this may be a result of increased trail usage . We would like to remind residents to “ pack out ” any trash you may generate so other trail users can enjoy the trail and surrounding areas to the fullest .
Trail users will notice that there has been a short trail relocation on a section of the trail where it first enters the woods south of Nightingale Beach . The trail was found to be on private property and was moved closer to the Lake . This part of the trail is in a sometimes boggy area , and LLA Maintenance Staff laid down a rough planking system over the surface area that tends to remain wet . In the future , we are hoping to have a wooden boardwalk installed for a more permanent solution to this ongoing drainage problem .
As always , the Trailblazers Committee can be reached via email at LLATrailblazers @ gmail . com .
