Welcome! I am thrilled to present this year’s
programme filled with inspiring choral works.
Come and …SING with us! This FREE event is an invitation to
you all to join us in the Town Hall to raise the roof and sing
along with the choir to well-known choruses. We want to
share with you, our community, our love of singing.
In 1791 Haydn attended the great Handel Festival in
Westminster Abbey, with a thousand performers, which
inspired him to write his two large scale oratorios: The
Creation and The Seasons. Was Haydn looking to copy this
‘Handel Success Story’ with his own epic works?
As we look forward to the end of winter, we named our third
concert Light. Composers of all ages have been inspired by
the change of seasons: from darkness to light, night to day,
bringing hope.
It is a testament to the genius of Handel that throughout
the world people flock to Messiah every year. There is always
something new to discover, a new nuance to unearth, to
bring you joy and good wishes.
Please join us for another wonderful year of sharing our love
of choral music!
