WOMEN LAW ENFORCEMENT EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR AWARD
Chief Gina V . Hawkins received the 2020 Women Law Enforcement Executive of the Year Award . In August 2020 , the National Association of Women Law Enforcement Executives ( NAWLEE ) held its national annual meeting . Although the meeting was held virtually , the organization was still able to recognize Chief Hawkins for her contributions to the City of Fayetteville and her department . This was NAWLEE ’ s 25th Anniversary . Motorola Solutions is the founder and sponsor of this award and the association .
Recipients of this award are selected based on their accomplishments and achievements in the following focus areas : Leading Change , Leading People , Driving Results , Business Acumen and Building Coalition . Chief Hawkins continues to be a change agent in our local community . Her leadership extends beyond the department and this award shows .
The establishment of the Domestic Violence Unit and development of Community Empowerment Response Teams are efforts that have helped bridge the gap in the community . Chief Hawkins continues to host faith forums , support the Police Activities League and sponsor a summer intern program . These endeavors embody her desire to lead change in the community . She continues to commit to training and developing future leaders in the agency , exhibiting her ability to lead people . The demanding nature of a job in law enforcement creates added stress . Chief Hawkins also developed a wellness room at the department for employees to examine their overall mind and body health . She also takes pride in upholding the City ’ s Core Values and the Mission of the Police Department . Hawkins holds regular meetings with City leaders and other community stakeholders to empower problem solving solutions and safety initiatives . Chief Hawkins continues to be an inspiration to law enforcement professionals of the future .
