HONORING THE MOST INNOVATIVE ACA MEMBER PORTFOLIO COMPANIES AND ONE
PERSON WHO ADVANCES ANGEL INVESTING.
Sponsors participate in the awards ceremony during the plenary lunch and their organization's brand is part of
the content, press releases, dedicated webpage throughout the year, and more.
LUIS VILLALOBOS AWARD
This award recognizes the most ingenious and innovative ideas financed by an ACA
member. The involved sponsor may participate in the judging process and connect with
three semi-finalists who participate in the ceremony. The name of the winner is kept
secret until they are announced during the ceremony. ACA works with the sponsor and
finalists on media releases and blogs to publicize the award and the connected sponsor.
Previous award winners have been very successful, with three being acquired for more
than $100 million each in 2016.
HANS SEVERIENS AWARD
In honor of the founder of the Band of Angels, the Hans Severiens Award is presented
annually to one person in advancing the field of angel investing. It is the top award for ACA
members or others in research and the startup ecosystem and comes with considerable
interest from Summit attendees and ACA members who are not in the audience. The
sponsor is not involved in the judging, but would have a central role in the ceremony. The
name of the winner is kept secret until the announcement. Like the “Luis Award,” ACA
works with the sponsor and finalists on media releases and blogs to publicize the award
and the connected sponsor.
