DEAN ’ S WELCOME
The 2019-2020 academic year will be remembered for some time at Kent State . It was a year of historic firsts with year-long events commemorating the 50th anniversary of May 4 , 1970 , the year the Kent State football team won its first bowl game , and the year that the coronavirus pandemic spread to Ohio . In the middle of the spring semester , as faculty , staff and students moved to remote teaching , working and learning , the college continued to succeed .
It was a year in which business faculty won two national awards – one for teaching and the other for research – and the Online MBA program was recognized among the top online MBA programs in the state , country and world by notable organizations including MBA Central , U . S . News and World Report and QS Quacquarelli Symonds , respectively .
It was a year in which College of Business Administration students took first place in CSU ’ s 2020 Intercollegiate Ethics Case Competition ; seven student businesses competed for a share of $ 20,000 in the fourth annual CEBIpitch competition ; and Emily Duffy , president of the College ’ s Pi Sigma Epsilon sales fraternity chapter , won the Whan Challenger scholarship for her outstanding work as a chapter president – becoming the first junior in the organization ’ s history to receive this award .
