/ 202 BUZZ / chatter around the loop By Marlene Montanez Diamondbacks Raise More than $700,000 for Yarnell The Arizona Diamondbacks raised a whopping $705,395 in support of the families of the 19 firefighters who perished fighting the Yarnell fire on June 30. The funds raised will benefit the American Red Cross, 100 Club of Arizona and Prescott Firefighter Charities, among others. More than 5,000 fans donated online; money was also raised through an online auction of a nameplate and special tribute jersey signed by the players, and the 50/50 raffle which is held during all home games. Fans can now purchase the special tribute jersey at the Team Shop; 100-percent of proceeds will benefit the above-named charities. For more info, visit dbacks.com. Take the Kids: Free Movies at the Museum Beat the heat and take the kiddos to a free Disney movie, playing each Saturday throughout August (starting Aug. 10) at the Tempe History Museum. The lineup of vintage Disney classics is sure to entertain kids and adults alike. The Diamondbacks honored the military as well as the 19 firefighters with a special on-field pre-game ceremony. 2. The 19 logo was painted in the grass behind the homeplate for display throughout the entire homestand. 3. Players and coaches wore special black jerseys with “Arizona” across the front for the entire homestand. The jerseys were auctioned off online and raised $76,000. 4. Fans brought signs to honor the memory of the 19 firefighters. 5. The 50-50 raffle sales raised $177,031 to benefit Yarnell. 6.
