On the 24th of January an instructive lecture was given on the Doukhobors by Airs . Fitzgibbon . it dealt with the life and customs of these industrious people , who were driven from their native homes in Russia and forced to come to Canada where many perished miserably until help was given them bv the Canadian government . i t H K
At the beginning of the Easter term there was a most interesting “ Palestine ” exhibition at the Imperial Rink , at which the boarders were present on the 22nd of January . The Rev . Schor gave lectures on the customs in the Holy Land , which were illustrated by various ladies and gentlcmene dressed in the native costumes . Besides the lectures on the Tabernacle , a native wedding , market day and other interesting subjects , the making of vessels and weaving of cloth were demonstrated , and objects of interest , such as weapons of war and virgin lamps , were to be seen , and there were beautiful pictures of the Holy Land and its people .

" The Marriage of Convenience ,” which was presented at the Imperial Theatre by Louis Waller , was attended by most of the Boarders , who were delighted with its quaintness and elegance . It was well worth the trouble of " coming in early on Saturday night ” to see it .

The moving pictures of the first Scott expedition , and also those of the Carnegie Antartic hunt , were enjoyed by the Boarders . They gave one a good idea of those districts and their inhabitants , portraying the real life of the Arctic and Antartic regions .

Airs . Henshawe gave a delightful lecture on “ The Rocky Mountains ," which was attended by all the Boarders . She showed and explained many wonderful pictures of the beautiful mountain peaks and lakes , and also the various flowers and animals .
