Welcome to the 21st Yukon Riverside Arts
Festival.
We are blessed in Yukon to have a thriving
community of artists. We are also lucky to be
one of those special places that artists from
all around the world love to visit and experi-
ence. Whether you enjoy the arts as a viewer
or a participant, this weekend is all about
celebrating creativity.
Congratulations to the Klondike Institute of
Art and Culture for presenting this unique
and impressive festival for the last 21 years.
That is a tremendous achievement and has
certainly contributed to Dawson’s world fa-
mous reputation as an artistic community.
Dawson is of course on the Traditional Ter-
ritory of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in and what is
particularly special about this year’s festival
is that the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in are gifting a
Hän name to the Klondike Institute of Art and
Culture building. This is a huge honour for
the Klondike Institute of Art and Culture and
for the whole of Dawson.
