KIAC and Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in welcome you to join us in celebrating language, art and community!
KIAC has been gifted a Hän name for our building and we want to say thank-you! Opening the Yukon
Riverside Arts Festival, this event will include: a naming ceremony, a showcase of Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in
art, a performance by the Hän singers, stories, histories, acknowledgements, and a BBQ! Everyone is
welcome! PS: Dress in bright colours or wear local art/crafts!

Maria Sol will explore the aesthetics of altars, and how spiritual symbolism spills into art and creation.
Workshop participants are invited to bring written prayers of gratitude, petitions, feelings, stories, or
objects they don’t mind parting with.

Join local artists and 2019 Canadian Wilderness Artist Residency (CWAR) participants for an evening of
“Pechakucha” style presentations and story-telling: each presenter has 6 minutes and 40 seconds to
captivate the audience with vulnerable, funny, serious, and educational topics. See page 23.
