Track Descriptions
MANAGEMENT–UTILITY SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGIC PLANNING
Rapid industry changes, increasing population, and
environmental challenges impact management of utilities
and require innovative solutions. Join industry experts as
they explore inventive programs for optimization and
sustainability, including water conservation programs,
performance monitoring and executive dashboards,
succession planning and programmatic sustainability.
Additional focus areas will highlight innovative approaches
to managing energy use and effective utility management
for small systems. As a water or wastewater utility manager, new challenges and
innovative solutions are an essential part of a well-run utility.
Sessions in this track will explore many factors that are part
of forward-thinking leadership, including benefits of strategic
planning, effective processes, and an overall approach to
identify and employ ongoing improvement efforts.
PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS
This session will explore the opportunities and benefits of public
private partnerships and unique case studies demonstrating
effective programs. This session will feature three applied
programs and milestones in achieving success.
RISK MANAGEMENT / SECURITY
PREPAREDNESS
Discover how utilities are preparing for, responding to, and
recovering from all types of hazards, including natural
disasters, accidents, and malevolent events. In addition,
learn more about new requirements for Community
Water Systems to assess risk and resilience, including
cybersecurity and emergency response plans, in accordance
with America’s Water Infrastructure Act of 2018. Experts
will be sharing actions taken that align with these new
requirements, including key upcoming deadlines. Sessions
and one workshop will profile approaches taken by utilities to
implement risk and resiliency policies and procedures.

UTILITY COLLABORATION
In this session attendees will learn practical reasons why
regional collaboration is a beneficial and necessary tool.
While emphasizing the importance of utility-to-utility
cooperation, presenters will highlight lessons learned from
historical agreements, and updating contractual arrangements
utilizing a collaborative approach.
