eer Creek Racquet Club Head Tennis Professional Chris Visconti grew up in Chicago
and ironically didn’t take up tennis until he was 11 years old. As a kid, he was a
baseball player, but learned to love tennis and played through college. Visconti, like all
the Deer Creek professional staff, has had a stellar tennis career. For five years he was on the
professional tennis tour playing the likes of Andre Agassi, Jim Courier and Jeff Tarango.
Chris is passionate about tennis because, in his
words, it provides the best aspects of all sports
tied into one. Like most team sports, tennis
requires good hand-eye coordination. You
experience contact point with a racquet just like
you do with a baseball bat, you have a throwing
motion like football, and follow-thru like hockey.
There are so many variables you get with tennis
all in one package.
Today, Chris oversees the club’s professional
staff and tennis curriculum that is one of the
north shore’s best. We sat down with him to get
an inside look at some of the challenges for
tennis players, what is happening in the tennis
industry, and what the future holds for the sport.
