After all the dishes had been prepared, Alisa, like every year, swept and mopped the wooden floor first and then started decorating the house and, most importantly, the Christmas tree. When the holidays are over, the granddaughter and her grandmother always put the Christmas ornaments in the box and take them to the attic. So that day both of them went to the attic and started looking for the decorations. Cardboard boxes were overflowing with colourful glass balls and rainbow coloured garlands.

Meanwhile Alisa occupied the time digging through the boxes. One little scarlet box caught her eye – inside it was a marvelous white bell with a golden ribbon. It looked as if it was made from ice. Alisa wanted to bring that bell back but her grandma did not let her do that. “Nobody can touch this little red box,” grandma whispered. So Alise without any questions agreed to leave the scarlet box and rushed downstairs to finish decorating.

Finally, the whole family arrived to the cozy, small log cabin and the lovely festivity was filled with love and happiness.

Alisa grew up, became a woman, got married and even had a daughter, Diana, and although her beloved grandparents died a couple of years ago, the memory about the intriguing ornament still haunted her. On December 23rd, Alisa and her husband decided to clean the attic of her grandparents’ log and collect necessary things. The woman was almost done when she remembered the peculiar white bell in the little red box from her childhood.

She looked for it everywhere and found it sitting on an old dusty shelf.
