Island Highlights
Legacy Gala
Our 2019 Legacy Gala was successful on so many levels. It was a successful
fundraiser—our only one of the year—filled with fun from start to finish. Tom
Crawford brought energy and laughter to the live auction, and attendees delighted
in the array of special items in our silent auction. Dinner at the beautiful Sanctuary
Hotel was elegant and tasty.
Naturally Kiawah Pathways
Getting to know Kiawah is easier and more fun than ever thanks to the Kiawah
Cosnervancy’s self-guided tours of Kiawah Island. These easy-access tours can be
downloaded through the TravelStorys app available from the App Store or Google
Play. We now have eight different options, each a unique combination of interesting
information and helpful guidance guaranteed to make a walk or bike ride around
the Island easier and more fun than ever.
Earth Day
The Kiawah Conservancy’s 2019 Earth Day Celebration was a great chance to see
good friends and neighbors and to learn more about our Island. Music played
as guests celebrated Kiawah’s natural beauty with presentations to charm every
age level. Young and old alike delighted in up-close experiences with educational
outreach creatures from the Nature Center and releasing ladybugs in the Garden.
Participants included the South Carolina Aquarium, local beekeeper Debbie Fisher,
the Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network, the Kiawah Conservancy Garden
Keepers, the Kiawah Island Turtle Patrol, the Kiawah Island Shorebird Stewardship
program, the Kiawah Island Plastics Initiative committee, the Charleston Collegiate
School Outdoor Program, Kiawah Island photographers and artists, the Town of
Kiawah Island and Brownswood Nursery.
