FLAGLER SCHOOLS PERSONALIZED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES The vision for Flagler County Schools is to become the Nation’s Premiere Learning Organization. Each day, the administration and staff works towards this vision by providing personalized learning opportunities for students. This starts with the ability to participate in School Choice Programs. The School Board and staff embrace the concept of educational choice opportunities for students and families. All students in grades K-12 have opportunities for acceleration. At the elementary and middle school level, students who meet specific criteria can qualify for a mid-year promotion, full grade promotion or subject acceleration. Personalized learning opportunities are supported through International Baccalaureate, Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education, Advanced Placement classes, college and career dual enrollment classes, Career Flagship Programs, iFlagler Virtual School and charter schools. Students’ individual needs are met through a variety of support services including exceptional student education, tutoring and mentoring. Students have the opportunity to tailor their learning through acceleration and remediation programs based on their learning styles. PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE Flagler County Schools prepares students for success in the 21st century in many different ways. In addition to its core curriculum, 21st century skills such as critical thinking, creative problem solving, communication skills, collaboration and cross-cultural relationship building are integrated into the school setting. Teachers work diligently to integrate these skills into lessons and throughout the student day. The district’s collaboration with Daytona State College, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and the University of Florida allows students to earn college credit while still in high school. Students can also earn college credits by participating in Advanced Placement classes, the International Baccalaureate program and the Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education. Students also have the opportunity to earn industry certifications in a number of areas, so they can immediately enter the workforce after graduation or pursue postsecondary education. Additionally, Flagler Technical Institute is a part of the Flagler County School District. FTI offers certifications in numerous areas such to include the medical field, cosmetology, early childhood and HVAC. These opportunities are available as dual enrollment for our high school students as well as for those in our community.
