Natural dunes play a much larger part in beach conservation than most beach-goers might expect, which is why we have to do everything we can to protect them. Restoration of the dunes can take months or years to complete, but the establishment of natural dunes is key to protecting our economy and natural coastal treasures. Our fragile dune beach grass anchors sand in place and can be damaged by foot and vehicle traffic, causing erosion. Without vegetation, dunes would be lost to the effects of wave, rain and wind erosion. REVIVE The renourishment and revival of our natural dunes will continue to make Palm Coast and the Flagler Beaches a beautiful destination and home. We have to look towards the future, not only to ensure the survival of endangered species and the protection of our economy, but also to maintain one of our area’s most valuable assets.
