Kevin J. Lilly Presiding Officer – Houston Ida Clement Steen Member – San Antonio Commission Member Vacant A. Bentley Nettles Executive Director August 12, 2018 Dear Texas Package Store Association Member: Welcome to Houston! As many of you have no doubt heard, 2018 has been a time of positive transition for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission. For the last year, TABC has taken steps to improve the relationship between the agency and the alcoholic beverage industry we’re charged with regulating, whether it’s through increased training and education opportunities or how we deal with administrative violations. TABC recognizes the critical role TPSA and the industry plays in enhancing Texas’ economy. For that reason, we’re taking steps to ensure Package Store permit applicants – as well as other applicants within the industry – have the tools and knowledge they need to get into business quickly while maintaining compliance with the laws put in place by our state Legislature. Further, as many of you know, TABC is currently under review by the Texas Sunset Commission. This means the agency’s structure, policies, and practices could see significant changes during the 2019 legislative session along with the Alcoholic Beverage Code itself. Your input is vital during this process. Any ideas or suggestions you have are most appreciated, and will help ensure that TABC emerges from the Sunset process equipped to regulate fairly and efficiently. On behalf of the leadership and employees of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, I’d like to thank each of you for your entrepreneurship, determination, and dedication to growing your business and the economy. It’s my hope that we can continue to work together in support of this great state. Sincerely, A. Bentley Nettles TABC Executive Director P.O.
