In partnership with Jaguars players, Owner Shad Khan and the Jaguars Foundation, the Jaguars organization is committed to making Jacksonville a place of opportunity for all its citizens. As part of an NFL league-wide effort to address social justice issues, the Jaguars are committed to working towards the change our city needs. Owner Shad Khan serves on the NFL’s joint Player-Owner Committee on social justice. Aligned with this Committee, the Jaguars are focused on areas that embrace equality, inclusion, equity and diversity, while helping reduce barriers to opportunities throughout northeast Florida. This begins with the building of respectful relationships regardless of one’s race, gender, sexual orientation, disability or economic status. Our work centers on four pillars, all of which are needed to reach our goal of equality and inclusion in Jacksonville: IMPROVING COMMUNITY–POLICE RELATIONS CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM A community cannot thrive without good police-community relations which starts with trust among our police and our citizens. Reform involves ending the pipeline to prison and creating pathways for ex-offenders to re-engage back into society. • Strengthening relationships with law enforcement • Reinforcing strong neighborhood-police ties • Building good rapport between youth and law enforcement through sports, i.e. PAL • Supporting school- and neighbor- hood-based restorative justice practices that instill responsibility, reduce disci- plinary disparities and divert youth from the system in lieu of arrest for low-level offenses • Supporting mentoring opportunities for at-risk girls and boys • Expanding opportunities for ex-offenders JAGUARS COMMUNITY REPORT PROTECTION AND EMPOWERMENT OF WOMEN AND GIRLS The protection and empowerment of women and girls is paramount to the Jaguars play- ers, organization and our community. • Support programs that empower girls and women. • Support local domestic violence shel- ters. • Support relationship violence education, sexual-assault awareness programs and survivor-centered services.
