ARTS - Open Class
Superintendent: Crossroads Carnegie Art Center
Rules and Regulations:
1. Work must have been done in the past two years,
completed by exhibitor, and not previously exhibited at the
Baker County Fair.
2. Each exhibit submitted must be artists own work. Work
done in a class with the assistant of an instructor is not
eligible, exceptions Youth School Work Categories.
3. All work MUST be ready for hanging or display including
children’s work. Baker County Fair will supply one courtesy
adhesive hanger to each exhibitor. Additional adhesive
hangers can be purchased from the registration table. All
Teen, Adult, Senior Artwork must be properly framed and
matted (unless presented with a gallery wrap) and MUST
include eyehooks or d-rings and wire securely fastened to the
back of the work. If artwork is submitted with a saw-tooth
hanger, it is at the artist risk and a saw-tooth is never to be
considered an appropriate hanging device. We will no longer
accept artwork that is shrink wrapped or adhered to matte
board or form core.
4. Many exhibitors believe that children’s are can be
displayed by use of thumbtacks on the panels at the
fairgrounds. The panels will not take thumbtacks so a
hanging device must be placed on every item. It is your
responsibility to place a hanging device to your child’s art
work to assure it is not damaged.
5. No wet paint or varnish accepted. Any work not properly
dried or completed will not be eligible for exhibit.
6. An exhibitor may enter more than one lot per class, but
will only be awarded one premium per class.
7. The superintendent or judge has the authority to place the
work in the proper category if entered in the wrong category.
8. The Baker County Fair Art and Crafts Show is a high
quality amateur art and craft show providing a venue for
emerging and amateur artists of all ages to showcase their
artwork. The Baker County Fairgrounds does not have the
space, security, or supervision needed to showcase semi-
professional or professional artwork. Crossroads Carnegie
Art Center and the numerous galleries in Baker City
provide local artist opportunities to showcase their artwork.
Crossroads rewards the winner of the Best of Show in both
Art and Craft at the Baker County Fair with a free entry into
the Art at the Crossroads Open Regional Show (No Semi-
Professional or Professional Art work accepted to safeguard
the work).
9. Artwork can be listed for sale. If the artist wish for the
artwork to be for sale they must present at entry an index
card which will be hung with the work. This card should
include name of the artwork, price and a contact phone
number for interested buyers to call.
10. All crafts should be ready to display with artisan bringing
all presentation items, this can include but not limited to:
Jewelry busts or display pieces, supports to properly display
works, etc. All display pieces should be clearly marked with
the artist’s name and phone number. It is acceptable for
jewelry or other small crafts to be presented in a clear Ziploc
so that small pieces do not get lost.
11. All models, Legos or collections, regardless of age, must
be in a 9 x 13 box with sides or clear plastic container with
sides. We encourage artisans to bring the work portable and
secure so that small pieces do not disappear. We encourage
that all collections be covered, if the artisan does not do so
the Baker County Fair will cover them with the materials
they ave available.
Divisions: All Open Classes are judged according to the
following divisions:
Pee-Wee, 8 and under
Youth, 9 - 12
Teen, 13 - 19
Adult/Senior - Amateur
Please notify Superintendent of your classification at the
time of entry.

Entries should be fully fired, glazed, painted or Raku
finished. No green ware please. Work with beading, wiring,
or any mixed media should enter as “Other”, accordingly.
