NEVADA DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES The Nevada Division of Child and Family Services created its Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) to provide crisis intervention and support to Nevada youth under the age of 18. The MCRT—composed of mental health clinicians and psychiatric case workers—fields calls from parents, community members, schools, hospitals, and child-serving agencies on one of three MCRT hotlines (serving southern, northern, and rural Nevada). Teams work with the youth and family to provide telephone triage, in-person crisis response, crisis stabilization, and follow-up care. Together, families and MCRT create safety plans that allow children to stay in their homes and communities. When a youth is unable to remain safe in the community, the MCRT facilitates acute, short-term hospital admission, as well as follow-up and referral care through community partners. ABOVE: KnowCrisis.com Nevada’s MCRT responds to youth and families of youth in crisis, over the phone or in person, to reduce emer- gency room visits and ensure everyone receives the proper care. MCRT also manages the KnowCrisis.com website and conducts outreach to schools, hospitals, community providers, and stakeholder groups to raise awareness of children’s mental health needs and convey information about access to services. CHAUTAUQUA TAPESTRY SYSTEM OF CARE In 2012, Chautauqua Tapestry System of Care in Chautauqua County, New York, developed a Community Alliance for Suicide Prevention to promote mental wellness and generate awareness about suicide prevention. Through the Alliance, cross- sector agency professionals and community members support, organize, and sponsor events and trainings throughout the county. Chautauqua Tapestry also conducts outreach efforts to reach youth in the community who have been affected by suicidal thoughts, mental health issues, substance use, or bullying. In October 2018, Chautauqua Tapestry supported the National Bullying Prevention Month efforts of Jamestown Public Schools, which previously had created an anti-bullying club and an online submission system through which people could anonymously report acts of bullying. Chautauqua Tapestry supported the school district’s efforts to create a window display at a local coffee shop to bring awareness to mental health and bullying prevention.
