Mobileye: Providing Drivers
with Life-Saving Seconds
O
n the road, just a few seconds can make the
difference between life and death.
According to a report published by the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in
conjunction with the Virginia Tech Transportation
Institute (VTTI), 80 percent of collisions and 65
percent of near-collisions involve some form of
driver distraction in the last three seconds before
the accident.
Just a moment of inattention can make all the
difference. But, what if we could grab drivers’
attention at these critical times, buying back that
precious moment before a collision occurs?
That is what Mobileye’s collision avoidance system
does. The retrofit solution helps refocus drivers’
attention in real-time - when they are too close
to the vehicle in front of them, are unintentionally
drifting into another lane, or when potential
dangers such as cyclist or pedestrians move into
their path.
For enhanced analysis capability, aggregated data
can be easily exported to a third-party telematics
or fleet management systems, providing greater
fleet visibility and insights into driver behaviour.
Local clients showing great results:
Zero collisions is a big claim to make. Yet, this is
the actual result which we have seen in a
60-vehicle pilot with Winslow Construction
Group, Australia.
‘The numbers of accidents of Winslow vehicles on
the roads were increasing but since the Mobileye
program began there have been zero collisions
with equipped vehicles. The system also had a
positive effect on driver behaviour - “While the
drivers of Mobileye-equipped vehicles needed a
little time to adjust to the alerts... they were soon
practicing safer driving habits.”’ Winslow

ComfortDelGro Corporation Australia (CDC),
which operates public transport across VIC and
NSW, remains at the forefront of safety innovation
by introducing Mobileye to its fleet.
“...with 90% of all Australian crashes caused by
minor mistakes such as distraction, fatigue or
being slightly above the speed limit, the installation
of Mobileye across the fleet of CDC Victoria and
CDC NSW aims to minimise at-fault incidents,
prevent collisions and injuries, and potentially save
lives.” ComfortDelGro Corporation Australia.
